Leaked: OS 6.0.0.407 For The BlackBerry Style 9670

Leaked: OS 6.0.0.407 For The BlackBerry Style 9670

BlackBerry Style owners are seeing some love today. OS 6.0.0.407 is now available for download although, it is a leaked version so you all know what to do with it. Make sure you run a backup of your device first and let us all know in the comments or in the forums how it’s working out for you.

*OS Disclaimer – Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you’re comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base – do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

BlackBerry Style 9670 now available from TELUS

BlackBerry Style 9670 now available from TELUS

TELUS users who’ve been waiting for the BlackBerry Style to arrive can now get their hands on one. TELUS has listed the deivce on their website for $79.99 on a new 3-year contract. Although, Future Shop still has their pricing set at $49.99 with a new 3-year as well. No matter where you go to grab one, the fact that it’s still priced under that $100 mark is pretty sweet for one of the latest BlackBerry devices out there.

BlackBerry Style 9670 dummy units now arriving at TELUS

BlackBerry Style dummy units now arriving at TELUS

TELUS was quick to confirm they’d also be releasing the BlackBerry Style 9670 shortly after the initial Sprint announcement but no official date was actually set at that time. But, given that the dummy unit devices are now showing up at retail locations launch surely cannot be far off. There is a suggested price of $399.99 outright being put out there but of course, that’s all subject to change at any point. Be sure to check out our full BlackBerry Style break down for specs, videos and pics. Anyone on TELUS going to be grabbing one up once released?

Sprint BlackBerry Style 9670 review

A Hands-On Review of the Sprint BlackBerry Style 9670

BlackBerry Style 9670 Sprint

At first the idea of a flip style BlackBerry actually appealed to me because I work with children and my phone is usually in my pocket the majority of my day. The first few pictures released of the rumored device were UGLY and I couldn’t possibly see me owning one. Then a few more pictures leaked out showing a sleeker looking Style and I began to reconsider. When CrackBerry announced that Sprint was allowing reservations of the device at the same time I was eligible for an upgrade, I thought I’d try it out. Worst case scenario, I use the Sprint 30 day guarantee and return the device if I absolutely hate it. I can now say the Style has won me over, and will be joining the rest of the BlackBerry devices in my collection. Read on to see the rest of my review.

BlackBerry Style 9670 appears in Sprint internal systems

BlackBerry Style

Yesterday we saw the upcoming BlackBerry Style 9670 pass through the FCC systems. Today, we get an internal shot of Sprints imagery material database which shows us that the BlackBerry Style is set to get all gussied up for Sprint marketing. Word is once device reach this stage in the game, it’s typically only a matter of a few weeks before the device gets announced and then another 60 days for release. If all that holds true, we could possibly see an announcement at DevCon with a actual device roll out sometime in November. Looks like Kevin was right about the name though. Glad I never placed any bets with him. Thanks Anonymous.

BlackBerry 9670 strolls through FCC seeking approval

9670

The above image looks to be that of the BlackBerry 9670 in all it’s clamshell glory. Also known as the BlackBerry Style, the BlackBerry 9670 is now showing up in the FCC database and is seeking approval. It carries the CDMA bands of Sprint and Verizon along with the test reports confirming that 802.11 b/g/n are on board as seen in the previously leaked UAProf documents. Love it or hate it, the BlackBerry 9670 is coming and we’d not be at all suprised to see some information about it show up during the BlackBerry Developers Conference. We’ll keep you all up to date though if it does. We’ll have an onslaught of coverage from DevCon this year so, stay tuned.

Big shout out to Lucky45 for sending them in!

BlackBerry 9670 Oxford internal overview leaked

9670

And Boy Genius has dug up some more leaked training slides for us all too look at. This time around, the BlackBerry Oxford 9670 is put on display. As we now know it’s coming to Sprint and Verizon, the detailed overview of the device is still rather interesting. No real surprises spec wise. Clamshell QWERTY, WiFi, GPS all wrapped up in 360×400 display with a 5MP camera and an external 240×320 external display. Now honestly, I’ve not seen or heard one person say they actually like the look of this device nor can I really say that I’m fond of it. Sound off in the comments folks.

BlackBerry 9670 (Oxford) simulator shows up online for download

9670

If you’re a developer or just interested in playing with an unrealeased device simulator then this is something you may be interested in. The good folks over at BBLeaks have posted up the download links to the BlackBerry 9670 (Oxford) simulator. Pretty cool to play around with if you’ve yet to go hands on with a BlackBerry 6 device.

I’ve played with it since last night and digging through some of the files, there is a lot going on that we haven’t really seen show up yet even on the BlackBerry Torch. If you’re handy at viewing the files you’ll see that Torch Mobile has been rather busy with other things aside from the browser. Looks as though Research In Motion has had them working on a few applications. Alas, the download is not for everyone but if ya wanna look into it, at least it’s available to do so now.

BlackBerry 9670 headed to US Cellular ‘later this year’?

US Cellular BlackBerry 9670

It’s not often that we have news from US Cellular on back-to-back days, but this one we just couldn’t pass up. In what appeared to just be a press release announcing some Android devices, a paragraph about the Bold 9650 release caught my eye.

The carrier will release the BlackBerry Bold in early August and later this year it will offer a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. U.S. Cellular is also releasing new touch screen devices like the LG Banter Touch featuring a 3-inch touch display and side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.

If you check out the second part of the sentence, the reference to the "BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard" can only be referring to our good friend the BlackBerry 9670 (unless there is yet another full-QWERTY flip in the works that we have yet to hear of). What does this mean? Well most likely that Verizon will land the little guy first and US Cellular will (as always) follow in their footsteps a few months behind. So if you do the math, the 9670 should be released somewhere in the next few months… hopefully sooner than later. Check out the full release below.

BlackBerry 9670 makes its video debut

BlackBerry 9670

With all the buzz about our new friend the 9800 Slider, we seem to forget about the ol’ 9670. Today this little guy landed on video and gives us a new look at all it has to offer (be it good or bad). This is the first real look we’ve had at the device aside from a few blurry pictures, so time to decide once again if you love it or hate it. There is also a good look at the OS that shows off the front screen as well as the OS itself. Hit the jump for both videos and be sure to leave a comment with your thoughts.

Video First Look At The BlackBerry 9670 Running BlackBerry 6

[ youtube video link for mobile viewing ]

Now, this is what I was hoping for earlier this morning. Guess we all just had to wait a little bit longer. CellGuru has just posted up a nice first look video of the BlackBerry 9670 which is of course running BlackBerry 6. This is the closest run through of BlackBerry 6 we have seen so far, minus the BlackBerry 6 preview video posted by Research In Motion.

While a little blurry, you can see for sure the device is running OS 6.0.0.20 and while we’re not exactly sure how up to date that release is, it sure seems to be flying on the device. BBM (5.0.1.5), FaceBook, Twitter for BlackBerry and even Viigo appear to be loaded. One thing missing here is the BlackBerry browser but we do get a quick glimpse of the YouTube application seen from the WES video as well. Now that we got a better look at things, what are your thoughts? Leave some comments, can’t wait to hear.

From the Forums: More BlackBerry 9670 and BlackBerry atlas (8980) Photos Emerge

BlackBerry 9670 & BlackBerry Atlas

Now that the Bold 9650 and 3G Pearl are both out in the open, we can again turn to some other BlackBerry devices that are still floating in the rumor mill. We’ve seen various shots of both the 9670 and atlas in the past, and forums member B.I.G.G.I.E has posted a few more for your viewing pleasure. Nothing terribly exciting this time around, but a few more angles and some OS details for both devices. The clam-style 9670 featuring BlackBerry 6 (OS 6.0) and a 5 megapixel camera recently came out of nowhere at us (we’ve been hearing Verizon asked RIM to build this one as an exclusive for them), while the atlas (as it’s labeled here) was the codename for what was the BlackBerry 8910 and is now the 8980 (click link for another related forum post). Hopefully more to come in the near future. Hit the jump for more images.

BlackBerry 9670 Shows Face, Rocking CDMA And New Clamshell Design

BlackBerry 9670 Shows Face, Rocking CDMA And New Clamshell Design

Well this has certainly been an interesting day. First we seen some shots of OS 6.0 and now we get an up close look at the BlackBerry 9670. This certainly isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a new clamshell design from Research In Motion but it is the first sighting of the long on the table device. As we know it, the specs for this one are rather interesting with what may be a few surprises to some out there.

Specs:

  • 5 Mega Pixel Camera
  • CDMA Radio Bands
  • 360×480 Screen Resolution
  • WiFi
  • MicroUSB Slot
  • MicroSD Internal Storage Slot
  • Massive External Display
  • OS 6.0 Ready

Other than those few items, details are still kind of slim. While we have a model number already, we’re led to believe this is what is also referred to as the BlackBerry "oxford." Clearly, the BlackBerry 9670 is not a completed device and to judge by these pics might be selling it a little short. So what do you all think?
