OtterBox has long been the "go to" for tough cases, but Seidio is looking to get in on that action. Their new Innocase Rugged Holster Combo for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a brand new entry to their already stellar lineup. This case features a three-part design, along with their standard side clip that is sure to keep the case locked solid. I had the opporunity to play around with this case for a bit after WES, and I have to say I’m totally impressed. If you work or play in a harsh environment, or just plan on dropping your device off a roof to the pavement below, you’ll want to check this one out. Watch the video about for my first impressions and quick review and OtterBox comparison. The Seidio Innocase Rugged is available at ShopCrackBerry.com for for $49.95. You can follow the link below for more photos and official description.

Prior to WES 2010 we already knew we’d soon be seeing the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in white, but just to make it officially official Mike Lazaridis announced it during his keynote and showed it off on screen. Check out the video above to see the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in it’s pearly white with grey and chrome accent color scheme. She’s a beauty.
Over the course of our WES 2010 week in Orlando, the smartphone color debate came up quite a few times. I personally love white smartphones. I loved my old colorware BlackBerry Curve 8320, will be buying the 9700 in white the second Rogers gets it in stock and will be buying a white BlackBerry Pearl 3G from whatever carrier releases it first. Even when it comes to devices like the iPhone, I like the look of the white one over the solid Black one.
Of course, smartphones these days are starting to show up in more and more colors — RIM is making the Pearl 3G available to carriers in a rainbow of colors — but to see where things stand I’m curious to see how CrackBerry readers will vote in a white BlackBerry vs. black BlackBerry contest. So here’s the poll question… if the BlackBerry you already own or are going to buy next were available in both white or black when you went to buy it, which color would you buy? Be sure to cast your vote above and sound off in the comments!

We’ve seen the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 show up on T-Mobile UK and NL already so it only makes sense that T-Mobile USA would have plans for a release as well. As T-MoNews posted the internal pic above, if all things go as planned customers should be able to pick up a white BlackBerry Bold 9700 from T-Mobile retailers as soon as May 15th. Pricing isn’t expected to be any different than that of the black 9700.

Zach over at TheBerryFix, had a user send in some pics of the limited edition BlackBerry that was given to Team Canada and certain Future Shop employees. I would love to be able to get my hands on one of these. Sadly, there were only 60 made and as it stands right now if you want one word is you’ll not be able to find it for anything less then $10,000. Yikes! Still, a nice piece of eye candy though. Personally, I’d love to see more "limited editions" actually be released to market.

Posted on 02 April 2010. Tags: 5.0.0.593, 9700, Blackberry, Bold, Leaked
Here is yet another leak for some Friday fun. Bold 9700 users can download OS 5.0.0.593 thanks again to BBLeaks. If you’re like me you may be getting tired of installing these on your 9700 (I’m still sticking with .545) but some of you may be ready to check it out. Hit the link below to download and drop a comment with your findings.
*OS Disclaimer – Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you’re comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base – do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

As was the case with the Bold 9000, it looks like our good friend the Bold 9700 will be made available in white as well. MobileSyrup has landed some Rogers intel that shows a white Bold 9700 may be on the way. The system is now showing the device listed as RIM 9700B/WR which hopefully means RIM 9700 Black/White Rogers. Still just some early specualting, but a Bold 9700 in white would look pretty spiffy. We’ll try to do some more digging and see what we can find out. Would you buy a white Bold 9700? Leave a comment and let us know.

A few weeks back MLB.com At Bat 2010 was released, but sadly it was only for the Storm. I (among others) was greatly upset I couldn’t fire it up on my 9700. We heard that it would be available for other devices after opening day, but it turns out dreams do come true. MLB.com At Bat 2010 has been released for the Tour 9630, Bold 9700 and Curve 8530 in BlackBerry App World. The app lets you listen to gameday audio, check standings, scores, watch highlights and much more. The $14.99 price tag may deter some, but true baseball fans will want to check this app out and keep up with all the happenings during the season. Thanks Sean!

Back on St. Patty’s day we announced here on the blogs that Need for Speed Shift 3D for the BlackBerry Storm2 finally hit App World. This is one of the games that was demoed back at the BlackBerry Developer showing off RIM’s newly announced Open GL APIs. With the 3D version of the game now available for the Storm2, I gave it a download and walkthrough and also compared to the 2D version available for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 (does not support Open GL) as well as the version of Need for Speed Shift available for the iPhone in Apple’s App Store. Watch the video above to see how it unfolds and read on for some more details.

It’s almost as if Research In Motion and Vodafone had this one scheduled huh? As we mentioned back when it leaked, OS 5.0.0.545 hit that "Gold" status we were expecting. The one time leaked OS gone official is now available for download from the Vodafone UK website. If you never made use of the leaked version maybe you’ll wanna try the official on for size. As always, if Vodafone isn’t your carrier make sure you delete the vendor.xml file. Shout out to cbaboy88 for finding it first.

As spotted in the forums, if you are on TELUS and fanatical about running nothing but a carrier released OS you can now get your hands on OS 5.0.0.442. Previously leaked then released on other carriers this one has been around for a while now. But, not everyone likes to run non official, non carrier released OS’ so enjoy.
