Pigs In Trees Soars Onto Android Market place – Bird vs Pig Battle Rages On

This image has no alt text

Pigs in Trees was released earlier this month in the Android Market and considering that I had so significantly enjoyable with it, I wanted to make sure it got your guys’ attention. The game features a bit of a role reversal from Angry Birds, this time putting you in command of pigs in planes that you should guide along the playing field to shoot down the horde of birds attempting to take over your HQ.

Very first thing you will notice are the visuals. Graphics are crisp and bright featuring cartoony hand-drawn sprites that compliment the game nicely. The developers PAN Vision AB genuinely did a great job at adding personality and generating Pigs in Trees attractive for all ages (or just huge youngsters like me).

Gameplay entails you drawing a path with your finger although your plane follows along. Combos are the name of the game, so lining up the ideal shot will take equal parts precision and skill. When swarms of birds fill the screen you will have to take full benefit of the loads of power-ups to collect in order to take them all down.

Pigs in Trees features four campaigns with a total of 75 jam packed levels to battle on and you can locate the game for free of charge appropriate now in the Android Market. The game has been a little glitchy on some devices despite the fact that it’s been much more than stable on my Evo 3D. Ahead of you leave the developer a negative evaluation make positive to email them first. Bear in mind — the game is free soon after-all. Have fun!

Sony Ericsson Supports The Android Modding Community – Assists Developers Build Custom ROMs

This image has no alt text

Sony Ericsson is properly aware of the Android modding community and as opposed to other OEM&rsquos who try and squash it, they&rsquore performing their part to support support it. No matter whether it&rsquos developing a custom ROM or modifying the kernel, the Sony Ericsson Developer program is aimed at helping these devs cook up good and stable custom ROMs and they&rsquore beginning with a group of devs named &ldquoFreeXperia.&rdquo These are the guys responsible for creating custom ROMs based on CyanognenMod and porting/modifying them to various Xperia devices lke the Play and Arc.

Sony Ericsson was one of &mdash if not the first Android OEM to announce they would present the selection to unlock the bootloaders in their 2011 Xperia lineup. Karl-Johan Dahlstr&oumlm, Head of Developer Relations for Sony Ericsson and all about nice guy (whom I had the pleasure of meeting at E3 this year), has been performing a great job at keeping Sony Ericsson devices open thanks to his close perform with developers. According to Mr. Dahlstr&oumlm,

&ldquoWe firmly believe in the openness of Android and we are actually impressed by the massive activity shown in our items. By getting supportive and open, we hope to both learn from the open community, and also share expertise when that is feasible.

When it came to Sony Ericsson&rsquos involvement with the FreeXperia developers,

We were impressed by the passion shown and decided to assist out with some bits and pieces. A couple of proprietary solutions needed to be explained and we helped them with that. We also supported the group with approximately 20 devices, to make their work simpler.

Sony Ericsson would also like to remind you that unlocking the bootloader and loading a custom ROM on their devices will more than most likely void your warranty. A risk we&rsquove been willing to take given that rooting our G1&primes back in the day. For your standard, typical Joe Schmoe consumer, keeping your device is 100% stock is usually the wisest choice. Either way, it&rsquos refreshing to see the actions Sony Ericsson has taken to support the Android modding community and something other Android OEM&rsquos can definitely learn a thing or two from.

This of course stirred a buzz of speculation as to when Xperia owners could anticipate an update. Sony Ericsson has recently clarified that individual’s statements as follows:

When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them offered to buyers in a timely manner, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view.

Basically Sony Ericsson has produced no official choice to update its 2011 Xperia phones to Android four. – in spite of the comments from the Sony Ericsson representative at the London press event yesterday. Nonetheless, here’s hoping…

Sprinkle Android App Evaluation

The Sprinkle Android App by Mediocre is a puzzle game where the object is to put the fires out and save the town without having running out of water. To spray the water press the red button in the bottom proper hand corner. To aim drag the hose to the height you require and then rotate the nozzle to get the angle you need to have.

You only have a restricted amount of water for each level. As soon as you get to the higher levels this will make the game a lot more difficult. The level structure also becomes more difficult and in addition to the structure there will be other obstacles that appear that you will require to either maneuver the water around or use them in order to help you put out the fires.

Getting a Tegra game the graphics are totally remarkable. For the controls you will need each hands to play this game. The controls are considerably less difficult to use on Android devices with bigger screens. You can nonetheless access them with smaller devices but it’s a bit far more challenging.

Overall, this is a high top quality, distinctive and challenging puzzle game for the Android platform. At the time of this assessment the Sprinkle Android App is $ 1.48.

Doodle Assault Android App Assessment

Doodle Assault is a classic side scrolling shooter by Four Hundred Games with an amazing retro twist. You manage a paper plane fighter, thrown too far out of class 1 day. Your mission: destroy the enemy doodles and reunite with your maker prior to he gets out of class and you are lost forever.

The tilt controls and automatic firing make the game play completely intuitive. As you destroy the evil doodles, you are able to collect coins with which you can acquire upgrades for your paper fighter. Moreover, there are upgrades all through the levels which will give you paper crane shields, speed boosts, and special weapons upgrades.

What really makes this game special is the care that has gone into its graphics and sounds. As you maneuver your craft more than the desk-strewn-with-notebook-paper landscape, whimsical interpretations of random mutant creatures-the kind 1 might uncover scribbled in the margins of a notebook from a boring lecture class- attack you. This comic book style is reinforced by the catchy, 8bit style, melodic music, the good quality of which is rarely equaled.

Overall, this is an outstanding game that I would highly advise. Admittedly, I have not been able to put this 1 down. Outstanding music, graphics, and controls make this very first offering from Four Hundred Games a need to have. At the time of this review Doddle Assault is cost-free.

Google Engineer Makes use of The Energy of Android and Google Maps To Propose To His Girlfriend

This image has no alt text

In 1 of the much more geeky (and equally amazing) stories I came across today, a Google engineer by the name of Ari Gilder proposed to his girlfriend today making use of a mixture of Google Maps and a custom app he built on his Nexus 1 The girlfriend was given the Nexus One and then, using the Google Maps to strategy her route, she would check in at numerous locations utilizing the custom app to get a rose and a picture.

Directions to the next location had been locked by a password that the girlfriend had to figure out by effectively answering a question about their relationship. You see, this would never ever work if it was turned around. Men forget every thing. Anyway &mdash back to the story. As soon as, future Ms. Gilder, reached the final checkpoint she was then met by Ari who dropped to one knee and popped her the final question (I promised myself I wouldn&rsquot cry).

This just goes to show you the creative minds working at Google. Oh- and thanks Ari for creating the rest of us men appear bad. I can barely build a tiny house out of popsicle sticks let alone a custom Android app. In any case, congrats Ari and his fiance!

Jelly Wars Android App Evaluation

The Jelly Wars Android App by Star Arcade is a multiplayer, on the web shooter game comparable to Goobers vs Boogers. The 1st time you play this game you have the selection of either logging in with your FaceBook account or making a star account. The star account is free and the purpose of having to log in to anything at all is for the online feature of the game.

The object of the game is to eradicate the other player. You do this by utilizing a combination of 1 action and two diverse kinds of weapons. The action you get to use is a jump and the two weapons you get to use are a sticky bomb and normal bomb. The controls for these are located at the best of the screen in the center. To choose one just press it as soon as to select it. To jump or attack with one of your 2 weapons basically press on your character drag to aim and release.

In each battle environment you have jelly and solid structures. These generate an obstacle for you to overcome in order to get a good aim at your opponent. You can also destroy them with your weapons or even use them to get out of your opponent’s aim. You get get 100 points which represent how much life you have left. The 1st player to get rid of their opponent’s points wins.

Overall, the game has great graphics and a smooth gameplay. If you like these kinds of shooter games then this is a pretty good, basic 1. A couple of recommendations for improvements would be to have the capability to upgrade your weapons so that you have a lot more to select from. Possibly even have levels for achievements to give the multiplayer aspect of the game far more of an incentive for replay value. The graphics are clean and the controls are responsive but the game in general could use some function to make it far more of a challenge. At the time of this assessment the Jelly Wars Android App has a no cost and paid version for $ 1.49.

Myth Defense LF Android App Review

The Myth Defense LF Android App by Smartpix Games is a tower defense game for the Android platform. There are a few differences to this game compared to the traditional tower defense game, this game includes alchemy, random maps and campaign mode. Battle Mode features 3 basic maps and random maps; Campaign Mode features 15 maps, and the ability to replay campaign many times to obtain prize and a higher rank.

The controls are based on point and click controls and the graphics are pretty well done and very detailed. This game gives you quite a bit of freedom when it comes to placing your weapons which is cool but it makes figuring out a good strategy to win a bit challenging which is still not a bad thing. As you play you will achieve GP which you can use to purchase lots of different upgrades.

Overall, this is a unique tower defense game with lots of content. At the time of this review the Myth Defense LF Android App is $ 3.95. Thumbs Up.

New Android Malware Mimics Google+ And Spies On Your Phone Calls

This image has no alt text

It’s that time again. Time for another string of Android malware, this time using the popularity of Google+ to fool unsuspecting Android users. The malicious code dubbed “Nickispy.C” was discovered by Trend Micro today and although it uses many of the same services as its previous versions, it learned a few new tricks this time around. Now, Nickispy.C goes incognito my calling itself Google++ using the same icon as the legit Google+ app for all of its services.

If given free reign over your phone, the app steals the usual text messages, GPS positions, call logs, and even goes as far as answering your calls allowing for the malware’s creator to listen in or record your most intimate conversations. Still unknown is if this malware made it into users’ devices through the Android Market or 3rd party app store or via the word wide web.

The good news? Well, the malware only effects Android 2.2 users thanks to the exploit being patched up in 2.3 that allows for an app to change the phone state without a user’s consent. The bad news? Android 2.2 is still found on around 74% of all Android devices. Damn. Even more reason to look forward to Android 2.3, right?

An Option to the GTunes Android App

I have found an Alternative to the GTunes Android App. I know that many of you are very keen on GTunes and other such related apps. I am trying to help the community by using only apps available on the Android Market so everyone has a fair chance to use them. This website does not advocate the use of apps that are removed by the Android Market. If apps were removed, generally, it’s for a legitimate reason.

Alternatives to the GTunes Android App:

MOG Mobile Music

MP3 Music Download

Cover Art grabber (Not a music downloader, but it does a good job on music covers.)

Music Download Lite

Music Downloader

MediaFire Pro (Be wary of what you download from here.)

For Music Players:

Gmusic

3

Uber Music

Please provide feedback on which apps are efficient and usable and which are not.

Also please remember we do not promote Apps that are removed from the Android market, because those apps did not comply with regulations, these apps have been found on the market it will be users such as yourself to help provide us with additional feedback to keep the best apps coming to you.

Thanks.

Disclaimer: Please these apps at your own risk.
