Samsung Galaxy S Priced at Bell, $149 on a 3-Year Contract Starting August 6th

This image has no alt text

bellvibrantprice

The Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant — actually appearing to be the standard international Galaxy S complete with front-facing camera rather than the Vibrant found on T-Mobile — has been priced and dated via Bell Canada’s website. Their Galaxy S page is now showing that the phone will be available at the price of $149.99 on a three-year agreement. You can get it off contract for $499.99, which is actually a quite agreeable price considering what you get packed underneath the gorgeous Super AMOLED display. The Galaxy S Vibrant will be available in Bell’s stores and on their website August 6th.

HTC Desire Coming to TELUS August 3rd?

This image has no alt text

TELUS-HTC-Desire

Canadian Android site AndroidTablets.ca is reporting an August 3rd launch date for the HTC Desire at Telus. The employee who confirmed the date in-store wasn’t able to give an exact price but quoted it as probably coming in under $100 for a 3-year deal. This goes against earlier leaked figures putting it at $299.95 on a three-year contract, quite pricey for a handset in today’s world of subsidized phones. Whether or not the August 3rd date will stick remains to be seen, but dummy units arriving in Telus stores indicate the phone will be launching soon regardless.

BlackBerry Curve 3G coming to Bell Mobility August 12th

Bell Mobility Curve 3G

It looks like Bell Mobility is all set for the release of the upcoming BlackBerry Curve 3G (Curve 9300). The carrier is ready to drop the HSPA device on August 12th and should be getting units in stock as early as next week. We did see this coming a few days ago, and the "Curve 3G" name looks to be the winning moniker for release as well. The device will carry the standard features including 256MB flash memory, a full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth and the fleet of native apps. No word if the Curve 3G is headed to any other carriers just yet, but it’s safe to assume it won’t be long before it lands elsewhere.

Verizon’s High-End Android Phones to Receive FroYo August 6th?

This image has no alt text

FroYo rumors still swirl about as most (translation: all phones besides the Nexus One) Android handsets have yet to be upgraded to the latest version. As it’s been suggested before, Verizon may be the first American carrier out of the starting gate to offer Android 2.2 to most of their Droid customers. Specifically, AndroidSpin’s tipster is telling them that the Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Incredible, and Motorola Droid X are to get a simultaneous upgrade to Android 2.2 beginning August 6th.

Froyo-love1-560x560

The process will reportedly see the update staggered out to users through August 15th, after which most users should be basking in ice-cold FroYo. We’ll mark our calendars and we will be sure to revisit this rumor once August makes its way to everyone’s doorstep.

Sprint Epic 4G launching on/around August 20th?

Samsung hinted at it yesterday via twitter and now they’re getting a little more official with their hints. On August 20th, Samsung will show off the Epic on their TV support website. This is pretty significant because they did the exact same thing for the Vibrant and Captivate, which both had their TV debuts around the same time as their official launch dates.

So if you’re on the Sprint network and have been salivating over your friends Galaxy S devices, it’d be a safe bet to say that you’ll be able to get your own on or around 8/20/10.

Verizon to Cap Data Before August?

This image has no alt text

Oh, boy: that rumor is starting to turn up again. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Verizon playing around with the idea of capping data usage for their wireless subscribers, but Engadget suggests Verizon could be finally set to impose those data caps – and that it could be happening before July 2010 expires.

verizon logo

There were no details to be had, but the lack of unlimited data (if you’re not willing to pay per GB, of course) is never a happy thought for paying customers. It’s quite alarming, too, because we just reported that Verizon’s seen a 5x increase in data usage from Motorola Droid X users compared to users of any other devices. One might suggest that this is because the phone is new and people are getting their apps in order and playing with the phone until their fingers fall off, but it would also make sense for Verizon to use that as an excuse to impose these data limitations.

We’ll see if any of this rings true as we enter the last unofficial month of summer.

Want a Nexus One? Better grab one before August

Well we knew that there wouldn’t be many Nexus One’s left when Google said they were receiving their last shipment from HTC, but selling out within 10 days? That’s cutting it short.

Google has told the L.A. Times that it expects to sell all of it’s remaining stock of the N1 by the end of July, which is essentially 10 days from now. So if you’re been on the fence about buying the Nexus, you probably shouldn’t hesitate much longer.

Is this the Droid You Were Looking For? Droid 2 Launching as Early as August 12, R2-D2 Edition Leaked

This image has no alt text

So the rumors up to this point have pointed pretty strongly towards the Motorola Droid 2 launching on August 23rd, but new information is coming in that the phone we just saw leaked running Android 2.2 could hit Verizon stores as early as August 12th. This would be a soft roll-out getting little promotion up until the larger marketing push kicks in on the 23rd date we have been hearing.

droid-2-r2-d2

And while that bit of information is pretty exciting on it’s own, this new info on the Droid 2’s release date also came with a leak of special edition of the Droid 2 that will embrace its Star Wars namesake. An R2-D2 edition of the phone will be launched featuring everyone’s favorite astromech droid on the back cover of the handset. Nerdgasm. Back with the original Droid, Verizon sent out remote-control R2D2 toys to press and media to promote the new phones launch, but little has been done with the Droid/Star Wars connection since Verizon licensed the brand from Lucasfilms. Given the choice would you want the special edition or just the plain jane Droid 2? What if the R2-D2 version required a slightly longer wait?

Droid 2 Packaging Gets Prepped, Late August Launch Likely

This image has no alt text

07-19-10droid2

There really isn’t a doubt in our minds that the Motorola Droid 2 will be launching at the end of August, especially if many of the recent leaks are any indication. Some [really blurry] photos snuck out of a packaging production plan jive with this time frame, showing a handset that is far enough into manufacturing that it will soon be getting boxed and prepped for shipment to Verizon stores around the US. Word on the block is that the exact date of release will be August 23rd. With all the hooplah about the Droid X still swirling around and showing no sign of settling, it looks like we are locked in for total Droid-age from her until the end of the summer.

Verizon Summer Catalog Leaked, Droid 2 Confirmed For August

Someone at Verizon has leaked a summer catalog due to be released at the end of the month. While it does not have any huge shockers, we finally get a firm(ish) release date for the much leaked and talked about Droid 2. It appears the phone is on track for an August release date. When in August is anyones guess, but since the phone has yet to be officially confirmed or announced I would speculate the date to be in the later part of the month.

This is good news for people who are weary of the Droid X’s lack of physical keyboard, size, and locked bootloader. Hopefully Motorola will hear the complaints and decide against locking up the Droid 2 as well. Only time will tell….. or a good leak.

Motorola Droid Set To Receive Android 2.2 In July And Droid X In August?

Yesterday, at the Droid X press release we learned and reported to you all that the Motorola Droid X would ship with Android 2.1, and would receive  Android 2.2 aka “Froyo” shortly after. If you look closely at the image provided below, you can see “Droid 1- 2.2 OS Maintenance release (including Flash 10.1) will be available in July,” and below that we can also see “Droid X-2.2 OS Maintenance release (including Flash 10.1) will be available in late summer.” Keep in mind that as with any leaked photo or bit of information, it can change at any point. This is definitely a good sign to Droid owners and future Droid X owners everywhere.

HTC Desire Headed to More Regional Operators in US this August

Confirming what we already knew, the HTC Desire is headed to the US. This follows US Cellular’s apology for their delay of the expected July launch they’d been promising customers. It’s said the delay is because of HTC’s inability to produce the devices fast enough (mainly because of AMOLED shortages), something that’s also been holding back the HTC Droid Incredible’s claim to fame.

htc-desire-us-twitter

In any case, we can at least now confirm that more regional carriers beside US Cellular will be getting the device, but we probably won’t get details on who they are for another month, at least.

HTC Desire coming to US Shores (and carriers) this August

Well it’s official, the dress-up Nexus One is coming to the US of A. You need to read the fine print though, because the Desire will be released through regional carriers only. This means it won’t be available through the big guys. Kind of disappointing if you ask me. Anyway, it sports the same hardware as the Nexus One, with the only significant difference being it replaces the N1’s trackpall with an optical trackpad. Oh, the back, menu, home and search keys are actual physical buttons instead of the touch sensitive ones found on the Nexus. In addition, (and obviously) the Desire will come with HTC’s SenseUI laid over Android 2.1.

Look for this bad boy this August.

Thanks to our tipster who sent this in!

Droid X Launching in July, Droid 2 Following in August

Just as suspected, the newest Droids from the Motorola camp headed to Verizon will be launching a bit later in the summer. Just when, you ask? According to BGR, the Motorola Droid X will be landing sometime in July with Android 2.1 and “shadow BLUR,” which we will assume is the same thing as “NinjaBlur” and the new version of MotoBlur spied in recent leaked photos.

droidx1motorola-droid2-1-1-dl

The Droid 2 will tail the Droid X, arriving in stores in August. Just enough time for Moto to apparently get a nice port of Android 2.2 up and running on the next-gen Droid. You heard that right. Might that equate to an update for the Droid X soon to follow launch? And how about the original Droid? There is no confirmation as to whether any version of MotoBlur will show up, but the Droid 2 should be sporting the same TI OMPA 3630 processor as the Droid X.
