Samsung i5510 Likely Heading to Australia’s Telstra

The mid-ranged QWERTY i5510 (Galaxy 551) could be making its way to the far south where it will likely be hosted by Telstra. This device, already available in Europe should make a welcome addition to the budget conscious with chubby fingers.

While no official word has come down regarding the pairing of Telstra and the i5510T, it should be a safe bet to make as Telstra’s other Samsung device model numbers are finished with a “T”.

Features:

  • FroYo
  • 3.2″ display
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • 3.2MP camera
  • 667 MHz processor

Samsung I5510 is seen at IFA

Ah…the Samsung I5510. How our hearts have yearned for you so.  The Samsung I5510 was spotted at IFA in Berlin, and sports Android 2.2, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, and a 5-megapixel camera. We can expect it to be a mid-range device, almost like a Samsung Gem, except the I5510 will tout Froyo goodness. The device will likely be a less impressive, and therefore more affordable, version of the Samsung Galaxy S Pro. Other than those specs, the device is still a mystery.

Samsung i5510 Is Their Mid-Ranged, QWERTY-Laden Froyo Handset

Looks like Vodafone’s going to get one of Samsung’s lesser-desired, yet still decent-looking handsets in the Samsung i5510. The phone will run Android 2.2 and – while Samsung Hub reports this will be running stock Android – the shot of the phone below points to TouchWiz (but not 3.0, from what I can tell).

The biggest takeaway here is the slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard which takes a lot of its cues from the one found on the Epic 4G or some of Samsung’s other QWERTY-enabled Androids. Other specs include a 5-megapixel camera, bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, a microSD card slot, and UMTS connectivity. No other details can be had just yet, hardware wise, but it’s said it’ll be offered for around 200 euros whenever it does debut.
