Dare I say there are probably a good number of Sprint customers that have been waiting for some decent confirmation as to when this new top end device would be release? The Samsung Galaxy S II will be coming to Sprint one day, possible sometime this month. I’m urgently waiting for some information on release dates myself. This Android device (possibly running 2.3.4) will be the up there on the top shelf with the HTC Evo 3D. Read More…
Been dying to take a look at the full version of Madden 2011 for Android? Well, lucky for us, some guys out there were able to get their hands on the $9.99 upgrade from the demo version included in a Droid X update, and took some video for your viewing pleasure. According to the review:
the game runs really well for being a mobile app and comes packed with almost every feature you could ask for in a Madden game. They may have taken their sweet time releasing it and unfortunately only went with this one phone, but at first glance, they seem to have done a nice job.
Be sure to hit the break for the 8:14 video, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
Developing a website that works well in all web browser isn’t easy, particularly if you’re using newer elements in HTML5. Even among modern, standards-compliant browsers, HTML5 support varies, and figuring out how and when to fall back on other solutions means a lot of cross-browser testing.
Thanks to virtual machines, testing across web browsers has become much easier. But if you’re looking for an even easier way to see what you site looks like in, say, Internet Explorer 6, check out Browserling, a new cross-browser testing tool that embeds any another browser inside your browser.
Browserling relies on Amazon-hosted virtual machines to do the embedding. The result is a real-time, fully interactive look at your site in virtually any Windows web browser, (Yep, it only works in Windows). It’s a step up from other web-based browser tests which just offer screenshots of what your site looks like in other browsers.
Unfortunately, as cool as the concept is, Browserling has a few drawbacks. The worst part of the service is that, for now anyway, you’ll be waiting in the queue for some time. To keep resources under control, Browserling severely limits the number of users connecting to the service at any one time. You’re also limited to how long you can use Browserlings VMs — 90 seconds is all you’ll get without creating an account. If you sign up you’ll have five minutes, which gives you a better chance to check out your website, but is hardly enough time for real testing.
The site advertises paid plans, which promise to let you ditch the queue and time limits, but at the moment the paid option isn’t actually available.
Our other main gripe is that while Internet Explorer is well represented — you can test in versions 5.5 all the way up to IE9 Beta — older versions of other browsers are scarce. While it’s true IE is probably what most developers are interested in, it would be nice to see older versions of Firefox, Safari and Opera supported as well.
While it would be premature to delete your own virtual machines, Browserling has potential. If Browserling can work out the kinks — we experienced numerous errors, crashing VMs and other problems, but it’s probably just getting smothered by hugs — it may eventually help take some of the pain out of cross-browser testing.
Droid-Life has discovered that the upcoming OTA update for the Droid Incredible contains Verizon’s V CAST App store.
The OTA in question actually leaked a couple of weeks ago, and is currently the foundation of a version of the popular Droid Incredible Virtuous ROM. You can download this version of the ROM here, and if you navigate to system, and then apps, you will find the VCast.apk.
As you can see above, the app installs and opens just fine, however it hangs up with an “unable to verify your account information” error. It seems they haven’t made the V CAST app store live just yet, but with this Droid Incredible OTA update expected to drop soon, Verizon’s app store may be just around the corner. Stay tuned.
If you purchased a Sony Internet TV or other iteration of Google TV (Logitech Revue, Sony BluRay Player), chances are you handled your new device delicately and with the greatest of care. But since the mission to gain root access to Google TV is in full swing, there are a few who are gritting their teeth and diving into the device. Literally… into the device.
Over at MagicAndroidApps.com they’ve done a Google TV Teardown that pulls off the back cover of a Sony Internet TV and takes a look at the guts. Here are a few pictures but head over to their site for more detail:
I’m not sure how many people really care about seeing the guts of Google TV… but I’m sure there will be some interest at seeing what others didn’t have the guts to do themselves. Google TV has only been publicly available for a few days, but the dev community acts fast, and I’m hoping to see some pretty cool stuff on these devices.
Over at Cafe Press, there’s some pretty cool merchandise rolling around (Android meets Pacman for example). Someone has taken the Intel Inside logo and turned it into “Android Inside”. The logo is available on shirts, sweaters… hack, even coffee mugs and pet clothing.
Android 2.2 and Tegra 2. That is what it now takes to stack up in the Android tablet game, and Hannspree is saying, “Yes please,” on both accounts. Their proposed tablet will feature a 1GHz Tegra 2, 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card, and a 1024×600 capacitive touchscreen. Throw in some micro HDMI and micro USB ports and you have yourself a media machine capable of playing back smooth 1080p HD video, which, beeteedubs, can be viewed for up to 8 hours on one charge of the Hannspree tablet’s3,500mAh battery. Other connectivity includes WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1.
The newly announced tablet is priced at €399 (~$507), but no word on a release date. Hey, at least we have gone from 10 trash Android tablets popping up a week to 10 promising ones, right?

Since the word "monolith" has been making vast amounts of headlines today, we figured we’d toss in our thoughts on the mysterious pillars that have shown up in some AT&T stores recently. AT&T employees have been silent on the matter, some folks are even saying they have been sternly warned to not even joke, nor talk about the possibility of what may be underneath.
Many conclusions have been drawn up as to what it may be. It could be the Android packing Dell Streak, it may also have something to do with the upcoming Windows Phone 7. Some have even gone so far as to say it may be iPhone 4 related but that seems a little off base, since the iPhone 4 has already launched. Of course, this being CrackBerry and all; we’d like to think it’s related to BlackBerry 6 and the upcoming BlackBerry 9800 aka Torch release. How frack’n cool would it be too see a huge Torch underneath there! Either way, time will tell what it is. I just hope it’s something really cool for all the hype it’s received thus far.
