Motorola Atrix 4G Rooted Before It’s Released!

Looks like the guys over on XDA Developers have been at it again and already hacked the Motorola Atrix 4G to gain root access. The screen shots show the Atrix running Titanium Backup, which requires root access to run.

It seems user designgears is responsible for this little beauty and he doesn’t even have a phone of his own.  He created the root hack and asked user Getaphixx to test it out for him.  I guess it worked :)

Check out the picture below:

Silver Motorola XOOM Spotted, Wi-Fi and GSM Versions Confirmed [VIDEO]

This image has no alt text

Motorola’s got a silver version of the XOOM tablet out in the wild, it looks like. If all black isn’t your thing, it’s another option that may end up on store shelves alongside the device’s WiFi-only release, which the gentlemen in the video confirms will happen.

He also confirms that a 3G version that uses GSM technology is in the works, so folks on carriers other than Verizon and folks in Europe can rest easy knowing you’ll be able to at least import the device and use it on your network of choice. He gives us a tour of the silver version, but other than its color, it’s nothing we haven’t already seen. Video is above.  [tBreak via Engadget] [Thanks, Jdog!]

WiFi Only Motorola Xoom Passes Through FCC, Dubai Shows Off A Silver GSM Model

Here’s some more Motorola Xoom action for ya.  We’ve just got word that the latest and greatest to pass through the hands of the FCC is a WiFi only Motorola Xoom.  For those of you who have been pretty hesitant on dropping $800 bucks on the device, this has definitely got to have you wiping the sweat off of your brow.  No word yet on how much the device will run you, but we’ll keep digging deeper folks.  As a segway for the Xoom, we’ll also note that the guys over at Engadget got their hands on a video of a Xoom in Dubai, and get this, it’s a silver GSM model.  It’s not confirmed whether the US shores will see this device or not, but a man can hope cant he?  We’re speculating that since there are no 3G radios in the device, there should be a significant drop in that undaunted nightmare of an MSRP.  What do you think is a fair price for a WiFi only Motorola Xoom, and more importantly, would you get one?  Hit the source link to check out the video by our friends over at Engadget.

Motorola “Bee” Concept Phone Runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Sports 4.3″ Super AMOLED and 5MP Front-Facing Camera

We’ve all heard about Honeycomb (Android 3.0), and how it will be limited to tablets only. This cool concept would run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, specially ported for the phone. It would also have:

AT&T Gives Us the Motorola Atrix 4G Mobile Minute [Video]

This image has no alt text

Last week AT&T gave us a 60-second rundown of the HTC Inspire 4G, and now the Motorola Atrix 4G is getting the same treatment. If you want the quick and slick story on the Atrix 4G, this is the video you want to watch. Even though the laptop dock’s $499.99 price tag (with or without the Atrix 4G) is a bit discouraging, the $199.99 price point for the phone alone is more than reasonable for a handset boasting a dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. In case you need a refresher on the rest, here’s the vid:

Motorola Confesses: Cliq XT Will Never Get Android 2.1

Cliq XT owners have been long awaiting the update to Android 2.1, and Motorola has been promising for a while that it would be coming soon. However, yesterday the statement was issued from Motorola that the update won’t be coming after all. “After comprehensive testing of the Android 2.1 upgrade for the CLIQ XT, we have concluded that this device will remain on Android 1.5. We realize many of you were anxiously awaiting this upgrade, but we aim to deliver software upgrades only when it will provide a better customer experience.” Apparently testing is showing that not to be the case in this instance, and so Motorola has made the decision to leave the Cliq XT at Android 1.5. A shame for those of you who have this phone and wanted the upgrade, but at least Motorola is no longer stringing you along.

Motorola Droid Bionic shows up on Amazon for only $149

droid-bionic-amazon

The Motorola Droid Bionic has hit Amazon for a sweet price of $149.99 on a 2-year contract with Verizon. The Droid Bionic was one of the elite devices shown at CES, and got some great benchmarking numbers as well. The device showing up on Amazon already may mean that the device is much closer to launch than the original “end of Q2″ with Verizon as previously stated. The page seen above has however been pulled down shortly after it was up, so we’re not sure when it’s going live again.

We’ll keep you all posted! Keep your wallets ready.

Motorola i1Q – I Like My Android Rugged

Spotted on the could be horizon, a new Android device for Nextel. Sporting a rugged exterior similar to that of the Motorola i1, it seems we have a industrial Android device. While it seems to be a little outdated running 2.1 and a slow processor, it does have a full physical qwerty keyboard. The biggest thing competing in the industrial field of phones in the outdoor-like workplaces is a blackberry, between the i1 and this I think android can break into that field. What do you think?

Video: Motorola Atrix 4G Promo Video – I Love This Phone

I’m not sure if it’s the device itself that I love or if it’s the laptop dock ability. No matter what I see of this device, I wish more and more that it would come to T-Mobile, but I know there is no chance of that ever happening.

We do know that the Atrix 4G will be going on sale through Costco and Amazon for only $150, which is a smoking deal for a device of this caliber. This will be the first Dual-Core Android device to hit the U.S., which is a pretty exciting thing for all of us and for AT&T, the carrier making it happen.

We had a little one on one time with this device at CES. Check out the link for what we got to play with.

Now on to the promo video from Motorola. It almost gives me the chills.

Motorola Atrix 4G will get 1080p video recording in software update after launch

motoatrix1080p

Motorola plans on launching the Motorola Atrix without the full utilization of the NVIDIA Tegra2 dual-core processor with regards to its ability to shoot 1080p full HD video. As this has been as much a thorn in Motorola’s side as our own in anticipation of this awesome device we saw at CES, we have to wonder why Motorola would launch it, when the LG Optimus 2X is launching with full utilization of the Tegra2 with 1080p encoding as well as HDMI output in full HD as well.

Fear not though, Motorola has every intention of making sure everyone who gets an Atrix 4G will be able to shoot 1080p video, as they plan to launch an update shortly after the launch of the device in February. How long after, we don’t know, and it’s likely Motorola doesn’t know either. We’ll wait to hear though…biting our nails in suspense.

Correction from Motorola: No Plans for MOTOBLUR on the XOOM

This image has no alt text

After word that the Motorola XOOM tablet might be getting MotoBlur hit the internet to the dismay of Google Experience fans everywhere, Motorola has reached out to us to set the record straight. The XOOM was developed alongside Google to optimize the tablet and Honeycomb’s working relationship. Motorola is calling it a “Google Experience Device” and says there are no plans for MOTOBLUR to find its way to the tablet.

We aren’t sure what that European rep was referencing when he said a future update might bring the custom UI to the XOOM, but thankfully there isn’t a lick of truth to it.

HTC Thunderbolt Priced at $250, Motorola XOOM Will Go for $799

This image has no alt text

We could be looking at the pricing for two of Verizon’s most highly anticipated future releases. The HTC Thunderbolt, which should be launching in February, looks to be priced slightly higher than your typical new smartphone release at $249.99. The Motorola XOOM looks to get an unsubsidized pricing of $799.99 (we hope its unsubsidized, at least).

Both prices are sure to turn a few heads and strike up some lively conversation. The Thunderbolt does get 4G, but the hardware makes it not much more than similar handsets retailing for $199.99. Given everything the XOOM offers, we aren’t too turned off by the pricing, but with a bit of room for subsidy there is hope it might drop a bit.

Motorola XOOM Release Date Pegged for Feb. 17th?

This image has no alt text

More Motorola XOOM news for you. Some shots of Best Buy’s internal system shows the Motorola XOOM launching February 17th, but for $699.99 instead of the $799.99 we saw in Verizon leaks late last week. It’s important to note that Verizon allows their retail partners to set their own price for the device, which would describe the discrepancy. We’re just over a week away from February, so we should see soon enough – through advertisements – whether or not these rumored release dates will stand true. [Droid-Attic via A&M]
