We had a chance to get our hands on a new Samsung Conquer 4G on Sprint, and we would like to share it with you. The phone is regarded as an entry level device, even though we here at TalkAndroid are giving it the thumbs up to be referred to as mid-range. The overall feel of the telephone is great, and the reality that it comes with stock Vanilla Android as the UI excites the heck out of this writer.
If you’re wanting the full rundown of the device, hit the break for both the unboxing and evaluation videos, and be positive to let us know what you feel in the comments.

Nonetheless, Wi-Fi isn’t integrated you’ll want to use a Samsung dongle which will price additional.

After a German court denied Samsung’s request for a preliminary hearing and honored Apple’s request for an injunction, banning sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in many parts of Europe, a date has been set for the legal dispute to be settled. On August 25th Samsung will have its day in court and argue their case in hopes of having the ban lifted. A final decision on whether or not sales of the tablet will resume won’t come until a few weeks after the hearing. And so the battle rages on…

With the likes of the Toshiba Thrive, the Motorola Xoom, and the new Galaxy 10.1 getting out and about, it’s straightforward to forget Samsung’s original Galaxy Tab tablet, despite its somewhat current update to Gingerbread. Nonetheless, for those seeking to get a pretty excellent tablet on the inexpensive, you can’t do significantly much better than K-Mart’s deal: the aforementioned Galaxy Tab for a mere $ 99. Even greater, there’s no mail-in rebate. Naturally this offer comes with the usual caveats of a two year contract and monthly service, but these are fairly minor and that cellular service can be fairly handy, even without the 4geez. Anyone planning cashing in on this deal? Let us know in the comments!

Ever considering that Google told use that they were planning another Nexus device to pilot Ice Cream Sandwich, we’ve waited patiently (feel: spamming F5 on Google’s weblog every 5 minutes) to see what’s in store for us next. Rumor has it that Google has narrowed it down to just a couple of large players, which includes one “big surprise”. And what a few large players they are.
We continue to see a few devices rise from the dozens, so we have to assume that there is at least some truth to the rumors. Among these supposed prototypes are a Samsung device with a dual-core 1.5GHz OMAP4460, and HTC with dual-core 1.8 Ghz Krait Snapdragon MSM8960 (/drool), a Sony Ericsson with dual-core 1.two GHz Scorpion MSM8吸, and an LG with dual-core 1.five GHz OMAP4460. Rumor also tells of a “rather svelte” “really large surprise” with an Intel CPU, which is intriguing simply because it would be Intel’s 1st foray into the Android market. That said, could they be any a lot more vague?
Still, any one of these devices would make for an outstanding telephone. This author has his eye set on the HTC device for a lot more than a few factors, the largest of which getting its unreleased Krait Snapdragon processor. This CPU delivers up to twice the density of any chip previous to it, although its 28nm draw does far more with much less power. Many would argue that these processors won’t be prepared in time for a release this year, but sources tell us that HTC is working about-the-clock to make this a reality. Definitely, a device such as this has the prospective to be the next “developer telephone”, a la the Nexus One. HTC’s stance on rooting just makes it all the much more appealing.
As to the “big surprise”, it had much better be a doozy. We’ve observed Android released on so several devices (phones, watches, Television’s, etc), that Google would have to release an iPhone to genuinely catch this author off-guard.

Considering the legal battles between Samsung and Apple, it was surprising to see Samsung selling an exact copy of Apple’s Smart Cover dubbed the Smart Case. It was made by Korean company, Anymode, which has a “strong affiliation” with Samsung, and was supposedly available in Samsung shops in Korea and on the Anymode website.
Samsung has already pulled the product and made the following statement:
As a general practice, Samsung Electronics reviews and approves all accessories produced by partners before they are given the “Designed for Samsung Mobile” mark.
In this case, approval was not given to Anymode for the accessory to feature this official designation. We are working with Anymode to address this oversight and the product has already been removed from the Anymode sales website. The product has not been sold.
I doubt Samsung should continue their “strong affilation” with Anymode moving forward. Something tells me that this is definitely something Anymode “cooked up.” Lets face it, Samsung would not be that stupid to release the product, only to then realize that it is a complete knock off, and pull it.

Good. Gawd. And not right after I posted my review on how content I was with the Evo 3D, this shows up in my inbox. Thanks to TIMN, what you have in front of you are some freshly leaked, blurry cam pics of the Samsung Within. This is the eagerly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S II for North America and it just so happens to be for my favorite carrier, Sprint. (Excuse me while I scream out my window)

Now that we got that out of the way, we don’t have much else to go on other than these pics here. You can see Sprint’s branding not only on the backside of the device, but on the software as well. The familiar (and nearly indestructible) Galaxy S II texture battery cover is easily recognized as well as the diplayed 8MP camera. Word on the street is this will launch with Android 2.3.4 so you can expect Google Talk video chat right out of the box.
Let us hope (and pray) this new leak is a sign the launch date is just around the corner because it looks like this device might be all ready for shipping to Sprint stores very soon. Sprint is coming in hot this summer with the release of the Motorola Photon 4G in a few more weeks. Anyone else excited to finally get their hands on this device?

Microsoft has been busy bullying smaller companies into licensing deals over elements of the Android OS that supposedly infringe on some of the Redmond-based software giant’s many patents. Companies with a bit more leverage have been a bit more resistant. Such is the case with Samsung, manufacturer of both Android and Windows handsets. The Korean smartphone maker is reluctant to come to terms with Microsoft, who is reportedly asking for a fee of $ 15 for every Android handset Samsung sells. Samsung has countered the offer with a slightly lower $ 10 per phone and a promise to become a bigger player for Windows Phone 7.
Both offers rise above the $ 5 per phone tax HTC is said to be paying Microsoft, though a deeper history between the two companies probably played a role in that deal. It’s the same sort of business relationship Samsung is hoping will save their company a few dollars. No matter how the money pans out, with more and more manufacturers forking over their dough to Microsoft it is becoming harder and harder for even the major players to avoid striking a deal. The last thing Samsung needs is another drawn-out patent war.

The original Samsung Galaxy Tab might not have the hardware to stack up against the newly released Galaxy Tab 10.1, but thanks to an update rolling out today at least one carrier-branded version of the 7-inch slate will get a fresher build of Android that might restore some of its appeal. It isn’t the tablet-specific Honeycomb, but the Android 2.3 update should breath some new life into Samsung’s first Android tablet.
Maintenance release EF17 is now going out to Sprint users, with the update expected to reach all owners of their Galaxy Tab within four days. Anyone out there receive their piece of Gingerbread yet?

This rumor details an updated version of Samsung’s Galaxy S II flagship phone, giving it a 1.4GHz dual-core processor instead of the current 1.2GHz.
Apparently, Samsung is preparing an updated version of its Exynos chipset. It will keep the same GPU and RAM, but the processor speed will be bumped. The new chipset could be included in an NFC-capable version of the handset, or perhaps a new smartphone entirely.
ITProPortal claims this bump in speed is so Sammy can better compete with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5, which is also expected in September. Of course, this is only speculation at the moment, and nothing is set in stone.
So, do we have any Galaxy S II owners out there? How will you feel if this updated smartphone is an exact replica of yours, with NFC and a faster processor? Let us know in the comments or over on our Facebook Wall!
