Unrevoked is a great tool for rooting many a handset, but if any of those handsets should receive an OTA update like the HTC Droid Incredible recently did, the rooting method is liable to break. But the Unrevoked team doesn’t give up in the face of adversity, and has been working on a fix to get Incredible support back into the app. The fix is currently in testing, but very could be available by the weekend. Sweet.

It was by no means easy for Android hackers to break down the walls surrounding the HTC Droid Incredible, but the task was accomplished. If the whole process of rooting your Incredible the old-fashioned way is just a bit too much to wrap your head around, Unrevoked has now made their one-click root method functional for the DI. You still need a bit of preparation that actually involves more than just one click, so don’t think this will be strictly child’s play, but it sure is a whole lot simpler than before.
[Note: We are not 100 percent sure if this root method is still compatible with the latest Incredible OTA being pushed starting today. If it does work, then this is indeed a day that may rival that of the Droid Incredible launch for owners of the handset. Feel free to try it out and let us know in the comments.]

Well the HTC EVO 4G has been successfully rooted. As most of you know, rooting is not equivalent to jailbreaking for a few reasons. One because it gives you more options other than apps but secondly because it’s much harder for the average Joe.
One of the original rooters, Matt Mastracci, there are a number of flaws in the security of the phone leaving it wide open for other apps to access your data. How do he and his team plan team plan on fixing this matter? Simple, cut out reason number two. Mastracci and company plan on releasing an “unrEVOked” exploit which should make it simpler to root your phone. Maybe something like the classic cupcake such as one-click to install a custom recovery, but I can only hope. He also has stated that if Sprint gives users full access (root) he will release the exploits otherwise it’s not gonna happen. The odds Sprint gives in? Slim to none.
Don’t worry though because unrevoked will be here soon. The same day as the EVO launch, which happens to be….WAIT WHAT?!?!!? TODAY!!!!! We’ll follow up once the exploit has been released into the wild.
