We have wonderful news for HTC Sensation and EVO 3D owners. It was just announced by way of Twitter that the CyanogenMod Team will have an alpha release of the CM7 ROM sometime this weekend.
Apparently there was a camera issue holding up the release, but it is now sorted out. Keyan Mobli (@kmobs) took the below 1080p video with his CM7 Sensation, and as you can see points are working fine.
Show Me the Images is an awesome app from BBerryGo that makes viewing images in email a lot easier. The app will automatically download and display images in email, instead of the BlackBerry default way by waiting for you to click options, get images. The app is simple to use. You need only to add email addresses to a "safe list" and the app will then automatically download images in any further email from that address.
Show Me the Images is one of my favorite and most used applications for BlackBerry, and would come in handy for any BlackBerry user. You can pick up Show Me the Images for $2.99 at the CrackBerry App Store for most devices on OS 4.6 and up.
Contest: We have 50 copies of Show Me the Images to give away. Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Contest ends this Sunday at midnight PST. Please only leave one comment, multiple entries wont count.
Although Black Friday is over, there are still some great deals to be taken advantage of! This weekend only, Verizon Wireless is offering the mid-range Motorola Citrus for just $29.99 with a new 2-year contract and data plan.
The Motorola CITRUS is a great device for beginning Android users and the price is right. Specs are as follows:
Candy-bar form factor
Android 2.1
3″ capacitive touch screen
3MP camera
528MHz processor
Wi-fi
GPS
Another interesting feature for the environmentally conscious: the Motorola CITRUS is made from post-consumer recycled plastic. Neat huh?
Head over to your nearest Verizon Wireless store today or order online for this great deal on the Motorola CITRUS!
If you’ve watched any football this year you can’t escape mention that Verizon is the exclusive mobile partner of the league, and while their NFL Mobile app is free for all on the carrier, the streaming video inside it costs extra. But not this weekend. You can catch all the pigskin action right on you fancy Android smartphone for free during a preview weekend event. Live streams of Sunday Night Football and the awesome NFL RedZone right at your fingertips.
We should say it won’t be completely free. If you don’t carry an unlimited data option, be prepared to cough up some bandwidth and probably some extra cash too.
Verizon is bringing the NFL to you through live streaming from Nov. 18th – 21st! You’ll be able to check out live video of Thursday and Sunday Night Football games, NFL RedZone and NFL Network coverage to you, wherever you are. Of course you may want to make sure you beef up your data plan so you don’t start paying huge data usage fees, as Verizon states in the small print that “Data charges may apply for customers who do not have an unlimited data plan. Message and data rates may apply.”
Consider that fair warning folks, streaming video can be costly unless you’re unlimited. Otherwise, enjoy this while it lasts!
This one has been popping up around the net the past couple of days but I figured we’d save it for the weekend…
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this comic strip from C-Section Comics is more like a 20,000 word thesis on the smartphone consumer market. It’s funny, cuz well… it’s mainly true
For those in need of an Android device, check out the RadioShack Facebook page. Today, November 6th, RadioShack is offering up the following devices for FREE if you simply ‘like’ the Radioshack page on Facebook:
This offer is good from November 6-November 9th. Remember, you’ll have to print out a coupon and the phones do require a 2-year contract with each respective carrier. In addition, RadioShack is also offering $10 off a $40 or more purchase and 20% off all accessories!
When I was a kid, one of my favorite books in the world was Bunnicula. So when I saw this Instructables project, I fell a little bit in love. I’m tired of the store bought stuff that’s become such a huge staple of the Halloween season, and I think taking the time to make something–especially with your kids–is a far preferable way to go.
And while I’m not the biggest vampire fan on the block (I admittedly adore True Blood, but that’s about as far as it goes) I appreciate the bunny-vampire hybrid. Especially with Halloween looming on the corner. Sure, not every geek parent out there is sewing-machine and embroidery friendly, but this is something that you can likely do with the whole family. Or even enlist a grandparent. The results are terrifically cute and perfect for the Halloween season. I want a whole fleet of these.
Motorola’s small and quirky FlipOut has been absent from North America and little buzz has popped up since we first caught wind that it would be landing on AT&T, but a new leaked set of details pertaining to upcoming releases on the carrier has the phone pegged for launch this Sunday, September 19th. Will it mirror the huge success that was the Motorola BackFlip, a device it seems poised to take the place of in AT&T’s lineup? Oh, the BackFlip wasn’t a huge success? Well I’m guessing it will be at least feature the same restrictions that AT&T seems to slap on all of their Android handsets. Expect it to be pretty cheap and available in multiple colors.
We know that the Motorola FlipOut will not be a heavy hitter like the Samsung Captivate, but it’s always exciting to see another Android device come to AT&T. Making its first US appearance, the Motorola FlipOut will bring along its unique flip-out full-QWERTY form factor.
So far, the closest this device has been to the states is Rogers in Canada and judging by the pamphlet above, this device may be hitting AT&T Sunday, September 19th.
Features of the Motorola FlipOut include:
2.8 inch QVGA display (320×420)
600 MHz processor TI OMAP3410
512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM
3.1 MP camera
Five row QWERTY keyboard
GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth
1170 mAh Li Ion
Android 2.1 with Motoblur
With previous images of the Motorola FlipOut, you can most likely expect an array of colors at launch. We wouldn’t expect this device to be too expensive, but we’ll find that out on Sunday I’m sure.
Best Buy Mobile announced today that they will begin taking pre-orders for the Samsung Fascinate on August 29. There is no word yet about an official release date, or about pricing, but we’re expecting the phone to run roughly $200 with a new contract, and $500 without.
“Like the other Galaxy S smart phones, the Verizon Wireless Samsung Fascinate, is a great phone and we are excited to bring it to our customers with this presale,” Scott Anderson, senior director of merchandising at Best Buy Mobile. “Smart phone technology has gone to a new level this summer, which is great for consumers. Best Buy stands for choice and we are committed to helping customers research and choose the right handset and accessories that make sense for them.”

It’s nearly seven days ago to the minute that we announced the availability of Pinball Deluxe for BlackBerry here on the CB blogs. It quickly shot up the CrackBerry App Store’s Best Sellers list and is currently the #1 Best Selling Game in the catalog (it’s not available via App World yet), maintaining a 5-star rating and gaining a lot of positive reviews. Coming from Mobigloo, makers of the uber-popular Nintaii for BlackBerry, Pinball Deluxe is available for pretty much every device model, is easy to play, is a lot of fun with nice graphics and smooth game play. If you didn’t pick it up last, it’s one to grab right now so you have it to while you’re relaxing this Memorial Day weekend.
Win a Free Copy of Pinball Deluxe: If instead of buying it outright you’d rather try your luck at winning a free copy of Pinballl Deluxe, we’ve got 100 free copies to give away. To enter, simply leave a comment to this post letting us know what’s the next type of gameboard theme you’d like to see Mobigloo put into the game next (personally I’ve always been a HUGE fan of the original Twilight Zone Pinball, so anything space related is good with me). Just leave one comment. We’ll let this one run until the end of day Monday, May 31st. Just leave one comment please. Good luck!
I’m down in Miami for a few days, so before boarding the plane yesterday I checked the CrackBerry App Store to see if there were any new time-kiling games for me to load up and have some fun with during the flight. Lo and behold I found a new one from Swoosh Software called PopUp that, while basic, proved to be pretty darn fun. PopUp is a puzzle game where you need to work fast to match block clusters before the board overflows. That’s it. Simple and fun. Oh, and the special blocks mix things up a bit. You can grab PopUp at the link below. It’s on sale until April 12th and a free trial is available.
Pretty soon we’ll have some Full-Time writers aboard and the Phandroid news will be flowing like never before, but with Syracuse (my team!) in the NCAA tournament, I missed more news this weekend than usual. Fear not – in addition to bringing some new talent to the team I’ve been working hard on some hot new things that I think you’ll enjoy.
But for now, as usual, here is the news we missed and you shouldn’t:
Droid Eris Comes with HTC Desire In Box? Nope.
Right now everyone is awaiting the hot new HTC Desire and a MobileCrunch reader learned that if you buy the HTC Droid Eris, you’ll get an HTC Desire in the box! Found on the Verizon website:
Sorry to let you down, but the Droid Eris was actually codenamed “Desire” and it seems whoever was responsible for plucking away on this page made a small booboo. Kind of funny, but I’m sure if an ACTUAL HTC Desire was pulled out of your new Droid Eris box, you’d be incredibly happy.
Black HTC Desire At Amazon
The graphite HTC Desire was the original color, then we recently spotted a silver version, and now Amazon France has given us a 3rd option with a Black version of the phone with a revised trackpad.
No telling if this will land on other carriers or if its some sort of French exclusive, but I think there are plenty of people who would prefer the “black cards, black car, all black everything” version of the device. Are you one of them? [Via Ubergizmo]

Samsung Android Tablet?
Last week we heard Samsung would be going after the iPad with their own tablet. Now the rumors intensify because although the tablet was originally supposed to run some version of Windows, new rumors are now saying it could run Android. At this point I suppose it could run anything – why not throw ChromeOS into the mix? I’m hoping for a Samsung Android Tablet but hey, I’ll take Chrome too. Just no windows please. [Via Tweakers]
