Don’t believe the haters; 4e is a lot of fun, & unlike 3e(etc) it actually has GAME BALANCE. Sure there ain’t enough rules for out of combat tomfoolery, & there are other flaws, but 3e-clingers have to come to terms with the fact that their system isn’t perfect, either.

@mordicai 4th edition just reminds me too much of the entry level 2nd edition D&D when TSR also had advanced D&D. The edition comes off as incomplete, watered down, and trying to be something other than what its suppose to be. Its more of a skirmish game with mechanics that seem to attempt to compete with PC games. The “GAME BALANCE” you speak of is not necessary for roleplaying, inequites are an aspect of character definition. 3.5 wasn’t perfect, it just wasn’t condecending by insisting that roleplaying is only fighting. Now I just play Pathfinder.

We’re going to be doing some Tales of the Arabian Nights soon – not exactly role-playing, but if done well it can give you some good stories. Hoping we have a good time with it.

It’s really sad that edition war losers have trashed up your thread. It’s this kind of material that will get more people into the hobby (whether that means they wind up playing 4e, Pathfinder, whatever). Trolling the threads detracts from that. Gamers must really hate gaming, because they’re always trying to scare people away from it.
