SproutCore is definitely not written in Ruby, the build tools are. All of the code for your application is written in JavaScript. One does not need to know any Ruby to write a SproutCore app.

Except that there is no money to be made from selling website access??
There is a reason people pay for native apps, and I don't see them doing the same for the web where you always need to be connected to use the software, besides dealing with payment processors yourself.

People make money from building websites everyday. Mobile versions are no different. Yeah they currently aren't going to have the functionality of an app, but i'm not going to download an app for every site I go to.
