Motorola is set to launch its latest touchscreen smartphone the ‘Motorola CHARM’ with MOTOBLUR enhancements. This device will likely hit the market by the third quarter of 2010, exclusively with T-Mobile USA.
Motorola CHARM is based on Google’s Android 2.1 operating system, offering social networking facilities with a compact design. It also provides in-call noise cancellation, a facility found usually in high-end Smartphones such as iPhone and Nexus One. It is compatible with Adobe Flash and has a trackpad just like the one available in AT&T’s Backflip.
Motorola’s Charm is expected to compete with HTC’s Aria, launched in June.
After the launch of the Motorola Charm and the Samsung Vibrant on July 21st, T-Mobile plans on launching 5 more Android devices before the years end. T-Mobile’s end of the year road map has apparently been leaked. On September 9th, it seems an HTC Android device labeled the “Vanguard” is expected on T-Mobile, with two Motorola devices dropping about the same time. An LG Android device is expected around the same time.
T-Mobile USA will launch an HSPA+ Android-based smartphone from HTC in September, according to Light Reading. The handset would be the world’s first HSPA+ smartphone, made to handle T-Mobile’s upgraded 3G network with peak downlink network speeds of up to 21 Mbit/s. It would providing some competition to HTC’s EVO 4G from Sprint, which has built-in WiMAX. LTE phones from Verizon are unlikely for another year, say most industry observers.
